Khalifa International Date Palm Award

FEBRUARY 2011

Khalifa International Date Palm Award was honoured on Tuesday winners of its third edition 2011.

The Khalifa International Date Palm Award was established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE with presidential decree number 15/2007 on March 20, 2007, and through Presidential decision No.02/2007 on July 7, 2007.

Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Khalifa International Date Palm Award honoured the winners of five categories, an award consisting of Dhs1.3 million.

Al Dahra was the winner for category 4 for The Best Development Project: A modern collaborative Commercial Date Palm Plantation in the Republic of Namibia

SIEAL AGRICULTURE EXHIBITION

Between 22-24 November 2010, the world’s largest food event descended upon Abu Dhabi. And with over 10,000 industry professionals from 77 countries in attendance, SIAL Middle East is now the largest and best attended launch exhibition to have been staged at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in 2010.

First launched in Paris in 1964, SIAL has developed
into the largest network of professional food events world wide that collectively represent more than 9,300 exhibitors and attract over 216,000 visitors from 200 countries.

SAUDI AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITION

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is new to the global hay market. So Al Dahra Agricultural, along with all its sister companies, attended the exhibition to promote the entire animal feed line. There was interest for US Alfalfa, Timothy Hay and also Spain, Pakistan and Egypt, animal feed products and visitors to the booth had many questions for the representatives.. Saudi Arabian companies are looking forward to receiving shipments of the ACX product line in the coming season.

World Dairy Expo and Summit

ACX’s Shaun Harris visited the World Dairy Expo and Summit 2010 in Qingdao, China, this June. The show was attended by dairymen, dairy equipment suppliers and hay buyers. ACX made great inroads into the Chinese market by promoting our brand image and products. Shaun made several good contacts and many products were shipped as a result of our presence at the Expo. The Chinese hay market continues to expand at over 100% per year and ACX carries on working towards
establishing a strong position in this market.

LIWA AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITION

APRIL 2010

The Liwa Date Festival turned into an annual meeting for heritage and folklore lovers and people greeting the land of Abu Dhabi’s riches and its dates. The festival, in its 5th year, is held the in Liwa. Today Liwa is an urban centre, which is one of the most important cities in Abu Dhabi’s Western Region. It is significant to the UAE leadership, which has dedicated a lot of resources to put on the map of Abu Dhabi’s tourism and to strengthen its position as a cultural destination for its citizens and the visitors.

CAMEL RACES FESTIVAL

The Arab knew camel races since times immemorial. The citizens of Arab Gulf Region in general and citizens of the UAE in particular rely on their camels as an essential aspect in their life. They depend on them in their travels and while they are at home.
They also depend on camels as a source of food.

The Bedouin has passion to his female camel. He therefore demonstrated a great deal of interest in its breeding, genealogy, pedigree and its participation in seasonal races. These races start in all of the UAE at the beginning of October every year. Camel race tracks witness intense competitions over great prizes designated for each race separately.

The Races of purebred Arab camels are considered the most popular. The UAE citizens show considerable interest in such races due to their exciting and challenging nature and because they represent the revival of popular heritage.

World Ag Ex po

ACX reached out to California growers to promote their own TRUE-SWEE T™ sudangrass line and the ACX intermodal business unit. As a result of participating, the ACX Wasco Business Unit Manager was able to secure several new growers for the 2010 Sudan grass season. The 2011 World Ag Expo will be even bigger as ACX aims to reach a wider base of farmers to support the increased global demand for US forage and roughage products. ACX hay buyers will be present to show farmers the benefits of joining the ACX supply chain. The World Ag Expo is the largest event of its kind featuring more than 1,600 exhibitors and attracting over 100,000 visitors from all over the world every year.
