
To facilitate this, 200 hectares of land around the Nuate Dam has been cultivated with the most genetically modified date varieties such as Madjool, Barhee, Khalas, Khenze, Hilali, Abu moon etc. Table grape cultivation is also done here. These products are aimed to reach new frontiers in the international markets.
The climatic conditions and soils in the southern, western and north-western regions of Namibia are very suitable for date palm development initiatives. The country’s strategic location in the Southern Hemisphere enables the production of fresh dates throughout the year.
A project called ‘Gene Collection’ has been established to export these dates to the UAE.
